Kit Dies
As steel rule dies age and are subject to multiple reknifes, the clots commonly become worn or enlarged. This, in combination with changes in the wood base due to variations in environmental conditions, can cause the steel rule to become loose and, in many cases, renders the die useless. Atlas Die solves the problem of loose rules with a unique system called the KIT die. KIT stands for "Keep It Tight".
First we cut small relief holes around virtually every piece of steel rule
in the die. Then temperature resistant plastic shims are set in the holes
to exert mild pressure on both sides of the rule. Should the shims become
damaged or worn, they can be turned to expose a new surface, or if necessary,
replaced (at less cost than a new die). The KIT system was designed to
increase the life span of steel rule dies, and work with a wide variety
of base materials including wood, permaplex and bonded.
