ABC (Atlas Blanking Concept) Tools
Atlas Die offers a complete line of blanking tools for use on platen die cutters equipped with blanking stations. ABC - Atlas Blanking Concepts are recommended for applications of long running or repeating items. Blanking delivers a pre-stripped, uniform carton blank and eliminates the need for hand stripping off press. Labor savings, reduced downtime and faster folder/gluer speeds can all be realized when using a blanking system. Atlas blanking tools are custom designed and built to meet customer press specifications and layout requirements.
DESCRIPTION:
Each Blanking Tool is built to the specific requirements of the customer.
The upper (male) tool is primarily of wood construction, cut using the accuracy
of CAD/CAM driven lasers. All parts are securely screwed into place on the
sanded and sealed wood surface. The pusher is laser cut slightly smaller
than the die line to reduce interference with the lower tool grid rails.
A hole in each pusher allows for vacuum relief. The parts are then coated
with rubber to prevent marring the carton blank. Presser bars hold the strips
of trim that remain on the sheet after stripping. Presser buttons are available
to hold small areas of waste in place during the blanking process. The lower
(female) tool is a welded steel grid used in the blanking station used to
separate individual carton blanks from a sheet and stack them neatly onto
a pallet. It is referred to as a grid because the arrangement of the rails
used to separate the cartons resemble a tic-tac-toe board. The tool is complete,
ready to use and requires no additional setup.
