ATLAS DIE, LLC CONSOLIDATES NORTH CAROLINA OPERATIONS.
GREENSBORO, NC – June 2, 2010 – Effective today, Atlas Die, LLC announces the consolidation of its Charlotte, NC facility into its Greensboro, NC operations. The Charlotte business transition will begin immediately and it is anticipated that it will be completed by the end of June. The Charlotte facility will be closed at the conclusion of the transition.
The combined Atlas Greensboro operation will better serve its customers in the region through the addition of staffing, equipment, and extended service hours. Atlas remains committed to the local Charlotte customer base and has established a daily pick-up and delivery route.
According to Kenneth J. Smott, President and CEO of Atlas Die, “While these decisions are difficult the South Eastern market has changed dramatically over the past few years. Our customer base has been reshaped through mergers, closings, and product changes. The differences in the Charlotte and Greensboro markets have greatly diminished.” Mohammad Azim, Atlas Vice President of Manufacturing added, “Steel Rule market changes have also played a role. Speed to market requires us to operate our facilities much differently. To be successful in this environment we need to operate around the clock. Unfortunately the volume in the region can not support the cost of two twenty four hour operations less than 90 miles apart.”
Atlas Die, LLC is the only producer of Steel Rule, Flexible and Solid Rotary tooling servicing all aspects of non-metallic converting. Atlas maintains its corporate headquarters in Elkhart, Indiana, as well as operates manufacturing facilities in Palmer, Massachusetts; Elkhart, Indiana; Glendale Heights, Illinois; Wood Dale, Illinois; Neenah, WI; Atlanta, Georgia; Greensboro, North Carolina; and Richmond, Virginia.
